OUR STORY & FOUNDER

From Pain to PURPOSE

Aaron Caleb is a Youth Advocate, Founder, and Lead Facilitator at Student Wellness Initiatives Canada. Growing up, Aaron faced significant challenges, including societal pressures, bullying, and struggles with low self-esteem—barriers many youth encounter today. In 2009, an accidental overdose marked a turning point in his life, forcing him to confront the challenges he faced and reevaluate his sense of worth and purpose. This pivotal experience became the foundation for his passion for youth development, and inspired Aaron to question how his life could bring value to others…

Making an Impact

What began as a local effort to inspire young people through his music soon evolved into impactful assemblies and public speaking engagements, such as a province-wide campaign addressing mental health awareness, which have reached thousands of students within Canada. With firsthand experience navigating the challenges of an at-risk youth, Aaron has also served as a youth worker and facilitator for various organizations. In these roles, he supported teens facing significant obstacles, such as involvement in the youth justice system, struggles with addiction, and homelessness. Additionally, Aaron has worked extensively with youth facing barriers related to career readiness; helping young people overcome challenges and build pathways to a more stable future. Through this work, Aaron gained a deeper understanding of the systemic barriers many youth face as well as the need for holistic solutions to support and empower them.

An Expanding Initiative

These collective experiences led to the expanding vision and creation of Student Wellness Initiatives Canada. Drawing from the knowledge of working with at-risk youth as well as insights from our leaderships’ lived experiences, the organization was founded with the purpose of
providing schools with supplementary tools to support their early intervention and student wellness initiatives.
